Description

Oak Alley Plantation is near New Orleans, Louisiana. The genesis of the name is apparent. Two hundred year old oaks form a spectacular 800’ walkway environment, as the oaks meet in a canopy overhead. The plantation was built in 1839 by Jacques Telesphore Roman on land he bought/traded for from Valcour Aime who was known as the "King of Sugar" and was one of the wealthiest men in all of the south. The mansion was built in the Greek Revival architectural style.
